Beau's Brewing Co.
Tim and Steve Beauchesne, father and son, opened Beau’s in Vankleek Hill, east of Ottawa, on Canada Day 2006; the first batch sold out to nine Ottawa bars before the brewery opened. Lug Tread, a Kölsch-style lagered ale of 5.2%, is still its flagship, at a time when almost no one in Canada brewed a Kölsch; seasonals have included an altbier and a Märzen. Beau’s became employee-owned in 2016. The pandemic cut its revenue about in half, and in 2022 its shareholders accepted an offer from Steam Whistle; brewing continues at Vankleek Hill.
