Weihenstephan
The brewery stands in the buildings of the former Weihenstephan abbey above Freising and passed to the Bavarian state when the abbey was dissolved in 1803; it has been called the Bayerische Staatsbrauerei since 1921 and sits on the campus of the Technical University of Munich. It markets 1040 as its founding year, a date that both German and English Wikipedia trace to a charter forged in the 17th century. The BJCP lists six of its beers as classic examples, among them its Hefeweissbier, Original Helles, Korbinian doppelbock, Vitus weizenbock and Festbier.
