Unibroue
André Dion and Serge Racine bought Quebec’s pioneering microbrewery, Massawippi of Lennoxville, in 1990 and 1991, and with it a brewing licence at a time when no new ones were issued. Unibroue has brewed in Chambly since 1992, starting with Blanche de Chambly, a witbier. Its beers are Belgian in style, mostly bottle-conditioned, and named after Quebec history and folklore: La Fin du Monde, of 1994, is a tripel, Maudite a dubbel and Trois Pistoles a Belgian dark strong ale. Sleeman bought Unibroue in 2004, and Sapporo bought Sleeman two years later.
