Cerveza Minerva
Jesús Briseño, then 23, founded Minerva in Guadalajara in 2004 and sold the first barrel at his restaurant in the Providencia district. Its Pale Ale won gold at the 2010 World Beer Cup, and in 2011 Minerva became the first Mexican craft beer sold in a supermarket. In 2012 it won an antitrust case that ended exclusivity clauses in bar and restaurant contracts and opened those venues to every craft brewer. In December 2023 Cielito Lindo bought the Minerva brands, recipes and equipment and now brews them. The old company kept only its import business. The range includes Colonial, a Kölsch, Viena, a Vienna lager, a pale ale and an IPA.
