Microbrasserie Pit Caribou

Microbrasserie Pit Caribou at 27 rue de l'Anse, L'Anse-à-Beaufils, Percé

Benoît Couillard and Francis Joncas opened Pit Caribou in 2007 in a former seal-processing plant at the lobster port of L’Anse-à-Beaufils, near Percé, brewing on converted dairy equipment. It opened pubs in Percé and Montreal, built a coolship by the sea in 2016 and in 2017 won the right to make spontaneously fermented beer in Quebec. La Gaspésienne #13, a robust porter, won silver at the Canadian Brewing Awards in 2011; the range also takes in an American IPA, a double IPA, a NEIPA and a Berliner Weisse. Jean-François Nellis and Vincent Coderre bought it in 2019. With debts of more than $7.7 million it sought creditor protection in 2025, and in May its creditors accepted a five-year repayment plan.
