Brasserie McAuslan (St-Ambroise)

McAuslan opened in January 1989 on Saint-Ambroise Street in Montreal’s Saint-Henri district with St-Ambroise Pale Ale, and added St-Ambroise Oatmeal Stout in December 1991; at the 1994 World Beer Championships in Chicago the stout won platinum. The BJCP lists it as an example of the oatmeal stout. The brewery looks to English, Scottish and Irish brewing, and also releases a yearly Russian imperial stout. Moosehead once held a large minority stake; Les Brasseurs RJ, Quebec’s largest regional brewer, bought into it in 2008 and has owned it outright since 2013.
