Birrificio Lambrate
Giampaolo Sangiorgi opened a pub in Via Adelchi, in Milan’s Lambrate district, in 1996, and it soon became a brewery; the guide Birrerie Milano calls it the starting point of craft beer in Milan. Its labels draw on Milanese names and dialect: Ghisa, a smoked stout, is the city’s nickname for its traffic police. Montestella is a dry pale beer inspired by Kölsch. Lambrate now brews on a 2,000-litre plant in Via Sbodio and runs two pubs in Milan and one in Berlin, and it celebrated thirty years in September 2026.
