Cervecería Insurgente

The brothers Iván and Damián Morales began home brewing in their mother’s yard in San Diego, and in 2011 their beers took the top three places at the Ensenada Beer Fest. In 2014 they built a production brewery on Calle Juan Cordero in Tijuana and brewed Xocoveza with Stone, which made them known well beyond Baja California. The state government closed the brewery at the end of 2019, and it reopened in 2022; output in 2023 was close to 4,000 barrels. Dragula, an oatmeal stout, won bronze at the 2025 World Beer Cup. The range also takes in La Lupulosa, an IPA, Rompeolas, an American IPA, and Tiniebla, a witbier.
