Birra Forst

Two Merano businessmen founded the brewery at Forst, now part of Lagundo, in 1857, and Josef Fuchs bought it in 1863. His descendants still own it, in the fifth generation. Italian Wikipedia gives an output of 700,000 hectolitres a year, mostly for Italy. Forst Sixtus is a dark doppelbock and Heller Bock a pale bock. Since 1991 Forst has owned Birra Menabrea of Biella, a brewery of 1846 that still stands in the town centre and is still managed by the heirs of its 19th-century owners; Menabrea Ambrata is a beer of Märzen type.
