Cigar City Brewing

Joey Redner, a Tampa native and former beer writer, founded Cigar City in 2007, and with brewmaster Wayne Wambles brewed its first batch, Maduro Brown Ale, in January 2009. It now makes about 170,000 barrels a year. Jai Alai, the BJCP’s example of an American IPA, accounts for more than half of it. Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout has come out every March since 2010, and the range includes Florida Cracker, a white ale, and Margarita Gose. Cigar City joined Oskar Blues in the CANarchy group in 2016, and Monster Beverage bought CANarchy in 2022.
