Birrificio Italiano
Agostino Arioli opened the brewpub at Lurago Marinone, near Como, on 3 April 1996. That summer he dry-hopped a pale lager with noble hops, and Tipopils became the model for the Italian pilsner; Matt Brynildson of Firestone Walker based his Pivo Pils on it and took the idea to the United States. The brewery has since moved to Limido Comasco and opened a site in Milan. Scires is brewed with wild cherries. In 2000 Birrificio Italiano and Baladin were the first Italian brewers at the Great British Beer Festival, and in 2026 Italian brewers voted Arioli and Maurizio Folli brewers of the year.
