Cervecería Barbarian

Ignacio Schwalb, Diego Rodríguez and Juan Diego Vásquez brewed their first batch in 2009 in a parent’s yard with less than 500 soles, learning from books and an Argentine blog. Barbarian Red Ale went on tap at a Lima bar in November 2011, and in 2013 the brewery moved to an industrial plant at Huachipa. The founders led the creation of the Peruvian craft brewers’ union and opened their first Barbarian bar in Miraflores in 2016. In 2019 AB InBev bought the brewing business and the brand; the founders kept the bar chain, which now has nine bars.
