Cervecería Antares

Leonardo Ferrari and Mariana Rodríguez got a home-brewing kit around 1990. With Pablo Rodríguez, who had studied chemical engineering with Ferrari, they opened the first Antares brewpub in Mar del Plata on 19 December 1998, pouring a porter, a Kölsch and a Scotch ale. Pablo Rodríguez says it was the country’s third craft brewery, after one in Bariloche and one in El Bolsón. Antares began franchising in 2004 and opened a large brewery in Mar del Plata’s industrial park in 2016–17. Since 2022 the wine group Peñaflor has sold and distributed it nationally. The BJCP lists Antares as an example of the IPA Argenta, but its current IPA is made with American hops. Several franchise bars closed between 2024 and 2026.
