Straub Brewery

Peter Straub, from Felldorf in Württemberg, bought the Benzinger Spring Brewery from his father-in-law in 1872. It has brewed ever since, and the seventh generation of the family runs it. Wikipedia calls it the smallest brewery from before Prohibition that still operates, and the last in the country to sell beer in returnable 16-ounce glass “pounders”, which it washes and refills. The brewery makes German-American lagers: an American lager, a light and an amber lager, an India pale lager and 1872, a lager in the old style. Visitors can taste the beer at the Eternal Tap beside the production floor.
