Sinebrychoff

Nikolai Sinebrychoff won a ten-year right to brew and sell beer in Helsinki at auction in 1819, and received land for a brewery at Hietalahti on 13 October that year; the date is kept as the company’s birthday and as Finnish beer day. KOFF and its porter both date from 1957: KOFF Porter, a top-fermented dark beer of 7.2%, is one of the BJCP’s examples of Baltic porter. Brewing moved to Kerava in 1992, and Carlsberg has owned the company outright since the end of 1999.
