Molson Coors
Adolph Coors founded his brewery in Golden, Colorado, in 1873, and it merged with Canada’s Molson, founded in 1786, in 2005. Molson Coors took full control of Miller in 2016, when US regulators made AB InBev sell SABMiller’s share of MillerCoors, and became for a time the largest brewer in North America. It is the second-largest US brewing company. The BJCP lists Coors Original and Miller High Life as American lagers and Coors Batch 19 as a pre-Prohibition lager. Since 2020 it has brewed Yuengling for new states in a joint venture with the family. In January 2025 it closed the 157-year-old Leinenkugel’s brewery in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and moved that beer to Milwaukee.
