Jester King Brewery

The brothers Jeff Stuffings and Michael Steffing founded Jester King in 2010 on a ranch in the Hill Country west of Austin. It ferments its beer with wild yeast and uses Texas well water and local ingredients. In 2011 it sued the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission over a rule that barred drinks above 4% from being called beer, and won. The BJCP names its Le Petit Prince and Atrial Rubicite among its examples of sour and wild beers. On 28 October 2026 the brothers said they were looking for a buyer: margins had been thin for three or four years and interest in wild ales had fallen since 2022. The brewery stays open, and its range has moved towards IPAs, lagers and stouts.
