Birrificio Grado Plato
Sergio and Gabriele Ormea founded Grado Plato in 2003 as a brewpub in Chieri, near Turin, and later built a brewery at Montaldo Torinese. Strada San Felice, an amber lager of 8% flavoured with chestnuts, is named after the road where Sergio Ormea gathered chestnuts as a child, and the Italian guide Fermento Birra counts it among the best Italian chestnut beers. Chocarrubica, made with carob, won a platinum medal in Strasbourg in 2010. The brewery has grown barley and hops near Chieri since 2005 and now malts barley from its own farm at Piobesi Torinese.
