Firestone Walker Brewing Company

Adam Firestone and David Walker, brothers-in-law, started brewing in 1996 on the Firestone family vineyard at Los Olivos and moved to Paso Robles in 2001; Matt Brynildson became brewmaster. Its first beer, Double Barrel Ale, was fermented in its own version of the Burton union system of linked oak barrels. Barrelworks in Buellton makes its wild ales, and Mind Haze, a hazy IPA, was developed at its small brewery in Venice. 805, named after the local area code, was California’s best-selling craft beer in 2016, and Union Jack is the BJCP’s example of American IPA. Belgium’s Duvel Moortgat has owned a majority since 2015. In 2026 Firestone Walker and Duvel Moortgat USA bought Stone.
