Dogfish Head

Sam and Mariah Calagione opened Dogfish Head in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, in 1995, naming it after a headland in Maine where Sam spent childhood summers. Its production brewery is in Milton. The Calagiones made a name with “off-centered” beer: 60 Minute and 90 Minute IPA, hopped continually through the boil, the Randall hop-infusion device of 2003 and recreations of ancient drinks such as Midas Touch, with honey, grapes and saffron, worked out with the archaeologist Patrick McGovern. Dogfish Head merged into Boston Beer in 2019 for $300 million. Boston Beer said in April 2026 that Dogfish Head had grown for four quarters in a row.
