Cerveja Blumenau
Valmir Zanetti and partners founded Cerveja Blumenau in August 2015, first as a gypsy brewer, and it opened its own brewery in September 2016. With Liffey, it worked out the recipe for the Catharina Sour in 2016: its Catharina Sour Pêssego, made with peach, was the first of the style in a bottle, and the BJCP lists it as an example. Its production manager says the name honours Fernando Lapolli’s grandmother Catharina rather than the state of Santa Catarina. The range also takes in Capivara Little IPA, Macuca, an imperial stout, and Vila, a Weissbier. It was brewery of the year at the Brasil Beer Cup in 2021 and 2022.
