Cervecería Tijuana

The González Ibarra family, who had worked in beer distribution in Mexico City, opened Cervecería Tijuana in 2000, one of the first modern microbreweries in Mexico. A third-generation Czech brewer made only lagers, with European malt and Czech hops, and the beer writer Michael Jackson praised them. Tijuana Güera is its pale lager and Morena a dark lager of German origin. The brewery started the TJ Beer Fest in the mid-2000s. In August 2016 a subsidiary of Grupo Modelo became owner of its brands; where they are brewed in 2026 is not public.
