Cervecería Salvadoreña
Regia was launched in 1959 and Suprema in 1967 by La Constancia. When AB InBev bought SABMiller in 2016, El Salvador’s competition authority required the two brands to be sold, and in 2018 it approved Cervecería Salvadoreña, a company of Salvadoran investors, as the buyer. La Constancia went on brewing them under contract until 27 January 2026; the next day Cervecería Salvadoreña began brewing at its own plant at Ciudad Arce, La Libertad, built for more than US$60 million with an initial capacity of 300,000 hectolitres. It is the first large brewery founded with local money in El Salvador in more than a century.
