Zipfer
The Viennese banker Franz Schaup bought the brewery at Zipf at auction on 20 July 1858, its official founding date, and his son built it into an industrial brewery. After the war it was rebuilt from almost nothing to nearly a million hectolitres by the mid-1990s, on beers such as Zipfer Urtyp. It joined Brau Union Österreich, part of Heineken since 2003.
