Stiegl

The brewhouse bey dem Stieglein in Salzburg is first recorded in 1492, its name from a small stair down to the Alm canal. Brewing moved to Maxglan in 1863, and the Kiener family, which still owns it, was in charge by 1901; Heinrich Dieter Kiener has run it since 1990. The Land Salzburg calls it Austria’s largest private brewery. Stiegl-Goldbräu is an Austrian Märzen, the pale everyday beer of Austria.
