Spendrups

Spendrups brewery in Grängesberg

The company began in 1897 as Grängesbergs Bryggeri in Dalarna; the Danish brewer Louis Spendrup bought it in 1923, and it took the Spendrups name in 1982. In 1989 it bought the breweries of the Swedish co-operative movement, and with them Norrlands Guld. The fourth generation of the family runs it, and in 2015 it supplied 21.6% of the beer sold by Systembolaget, the state’s alcohol shop. It also brews Heineken under licence and runs Gotlands Bryggeri in Visby.
