Schumacher
Johannes Matthias Schumacher took over the brewery Im Sonnenaufgang in 1838, and from 1925 the family brewed only on Oststraße. Both its sites were bombed in 1942 and 1943, and brewing resumed after the war. In 1955 the brewery passed to the brewmaster Hans Schnitzler, a nephew of the owner, and his descendants Gertrud Schnitzler and Nina Thea Ungermann have run it since 2013. Schumacher Alt is a classic Altbier.
