Robinsons
George Robinson brewed the first Robinsons ale at the Unicorn Inn in Stockport in 1849, and Frederic Robinson took over in 1859; the fifth and sixth generations of the family run it today. Trooper, brewed since 2013, uses a recipe created by Iron Maiden’s singer Bruce Dickinson, and is a BJCP strong bitter; Old Tom, brewed since 1899, is an English barleywine. Brewing left the Unicorn tower brewery in March 2025 for a new brewhouse at Bredbury.
