Pilsner Urquell
The burghers of Plzeň built this brewery in 1842 and hired Josef Groll, a Bavarian, to brew in it. His pale lager gave pilsner its name and its template. The brewery writes that Groll most likely malted Haná barley from the Moravian plains. In the Czech Republic, Pilsner Urquell and Gambrinus are the only beers called Pilsner.
