Olvi
The brewmaster William Gideon Åberg and his wife Onni founded the brewery at Iisalmi in 1878, and it first sold beer in 1880; from 1892 it also made sahti. Olvi says Finland had about 78 breweries in 1878 and that it is the only one to survive as an independent Finnish company. It is now the largest Finnish-owned maker of beer, cider and soft drinks, and owns A. Le Coq in Estonia, Volfas Engelman in Lithuania and Cēsu Alus in Latvia.
