Lagunitas Brewing Company

Tony Magee founded Lagunitas in 1993 in the village of Lagunitas in west Marin County and moved it to Petaluma a year later. Output rose from 27,000 barrels in 2004 to 106,000 in 2010, and an expansion in 2012 took capacity to 600,000. Heineken bought half in 2015 and the rest in 2017. A second brewery in Chicago opened in 2014 and closed in 2024. Lagunitas IPA remains the flagship, next to a hazy IPA and Trooper, a West Coast IPA.
