Kulmbacher Brauerei
Founded in 1846 as Reichelbräu, the brewery took in Sandlerbräu, Mönchshof and EKU, and since 1996 all four are united in the Kulmbacher Brauerei AG. The Paulaner group holds 63.8%, the Kulmbach food firm Ireks 25.8%. Mönchshof Schwarzbier is a classic Schwarzbier, and the BJCP names Kulmbacher Eisbock, a bock strengthened by freezing out water, as the only commercial example of its style.
