Dado Bier

Eduardo Bier began brewing in 1994 and in 1995 opened Dado Bier in Porto Alegre, which English Wikipedia calls the first craft brewery in Brazil. Brewpubs followed in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Torres, and in 2002 a brewery and restaurant at the Bourbon Country mall. Dado Bier Ilex, brewed with erva-mate, is what the brand calls the first beer made with the herb. The Bourbon Country site closed on 31 December 2024, and Dado Bier stopped brewing itself: production rights went to Las Acacias in Uruguay, which M. Dias Branco owns.
