Cervejaria Colorado

Marcelo Carneiro da Rocha founded Colorado in Ribeirão Preto in 1996 after a trip to California, choosing a city with a long beer tradition. One of his first beers was an IPA with rapadura, raw cane sugar, and the brewery became known for Brazilian ingredients: cassava, Brazil nuts, orange-blossom honey and local coffee. The bear on its labels is South America’s spectacled bear. Indica is an English IPA with rapadura, Appia a wheat beer with honey, Demoiselle a coffee porter, Ithaca an imperial stout and Vixnu a double IPA. Ambev bought Colorado in July 2015, when it brewed about 140,000 litres a month; in May 2026 Ambev denied a rumour that it would drop the brand.
