Banks (Barbados) Breweries

The Guyanese businessman Peter D’Aguiar proposed a brewery in Barbados after the government offered tax concessions in the late 1950s; Guyana’s Banks DIH put up 30% and Barbadians bought the rest in shares, and the brewery at Wildey, about two miles from Bridgetown, opened on 7 September 1961 as the island’s first. A milk stout followed by 1963. The brewery later moved to Newton Terrace. Its main beer is Banks, a lager.
